The Maltese
History of Fabiana Lima - Acre, Brasil
The Maltese , also known as the Bichon Maltese , is an ancient breed with a history dating back at least 28 centuries. Originally from the central Mediterranean region, it is known for its soft coat and playful, yet sophisticated temperament. Small in size, it weighs between 3 and 3.5 kg and measures 20 to 25 cm in height, with a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years. Despite their gentle personality, the Maltese can be stubborn, requiring training based on positive reinforcement. He gets along well with people of all ages and other animals, but tends to bark a lot. Care includes regular coat maintenance, daily brushing and frequent baths. Health problems can include heart issues and obesity, and a balanced diet and regular exercise are important.
